Remodeling Green
  • Remodeling Green - What does this mean?
  • Where do I start?
  • Is it expensive?
  • Can anyone remodel green?
  • What kind of contractor should I look for?

Just a few of the many questions I have heard from past customers. Below we will talk in general what it is to be “green” friendly, and Ideas to get you started in the direction of making your home more environmentally friendly!

Making a home green friendly has different levels at which you can participate.

On the one side it might mean changing light bulbs to cfl’s, installing a programmable thermostat, proper recycling of waste, tankless water heaters. These are a few things that you can do to help save money, energy and still participate in the green process.

On the other hand, there really isn’t a limit on how green one can be.

If your planning remodeling your home and living there for a while, you may want to invest more into your home. Here are a few green friendly Ideas- New windows, doors, insulation in the walls and ceiling, new paint, energy star appliances, energy efficient furnace and duct work, and even the materials going into your home and the remodeling process itself.

As you can see there is a big gap in what is “green”.

In general anything you can do to make less of an impact on the environment than you currently are is a step in the right direction. At what level you can play at depends on the remodeler you choose and how involved you want to be.
